In India, as a renunciate or a sadhu, it is the duty of a person to travel the length and breadth of the country as a pilgrim. My first guru 1008 Sri Ramdas ji Maharaj whom we lovingly called Maharaj ji had done this pilgrimage (travelling across India) 3 times.

One day he was explaining the law of Karma and its effects. He relayed a story from the times when he was traveling the country (most of the time on foot) the 3rd time and was staying at the outskirts of a village with one of his disciples in a hut.

In this village was an old lady who would come daily with a pot of milk for him. This old lady was suffering from “Lymphatic filariasis” commonly known as elephantiasis or elephant foot in one leg. Maharaj ji was moved with compassion on seeing her suffering. The next day a miracle happened – the lady came running to him as she was miraculously cured of her disease. She was thanking Maharaj ji for this miracle, but my guru decided to immediately leave that village without a word.

Days went by and he continued his travel. One day as he was walking through an open field, he had a vision where a man came and pierced his foot with a spear like object. A cry of pain came out of his mouth as he fell on the ground. His disciple was startled and on checking found that a thorn was pierced in his foot.

Deleting The Karma

As Maharaj ji lay there, he understood that he was settling the karma of the old lady on her behalf – with this knowledge, he continued in his journey and by the time he came back to his native hut his leg was swollen and his wound was infected, in need for an operation. When the surgeon came to operate, Maharaj ji asked him to operate without anaesthesia to fast track the karmic account. With this extreme suffering, the foot got healed completely.

Such is the law of Karma. It is like a loan which must be paid back. If someone wants to settle it on your behalf, it is allowed. However, there are processes using which you can delete your Karmic issues with the Grace of a Master. This is called Karmakchhaalan (reduce your karmic load) – I am available to talk more about this process and help you offload and dissolve your karmic loads in a non-intrusive and easy manner.

Till Then Act Virtuously, Stay Healthy and Stress-free!!!

When your heart says, ‘come on, chase your dreams’, but your brain pulls you in the opposite path stating, ‘it is impossible to achieve’.

In the beginning, your adrenaline rushes and you are ready to face all the challenges, but slowly when you start making the necessary move, the sense of fear moves stealthily in your mind. Suddenly you are overpowered by your negative thoughts and self-doubts.

Where do these fears come from? Why can't we overcome them? Is it our self-ignorance, lack of confidence or scarcity of resources?

No, it is not that simple. This behaviour is called self-sabotaging and it is the result of several factors and events in our life that compels us to believe we are not born to or we are not made to achieve, what we are striving for.

And guess what?

We succumb to this and give up our actual dreams to lead a life that everybody wants us to lead. The bad news is we all become a victim of self-harm at least once in our lifetime, especially when we do not have anyone to coach us.

So, let us look at a few ways in which we unknowingly impair our own success.

1. The Dearth Of Support From Family

People we are surrounded with have a very strong impact on our mind and they are our actual holistic life coach. Whether it is family, friends or even the neighbours, their confidence in us gives us the strength to achieve our goal.

On the other hand, in the absence of their assurance, we start doubting our aim, wondering whether we are moving towards the correct direction. Here you have two choices; either be focused yourself, or search for a confidence coach, who will instil trust in you to have full faith in your dreams, even if others do not approve of it.

2. Lack Of Confidence In Our Dreams

If taken a closer look, this is a major reason which hampers our thoughts. Forget about others, at the end of the day only we can bring a change in our life. By realising what our full potential is and then matching it with what we need to achieve our dreams, is a good way to start working towards them.

Focus on the possibilities and have faith in yourself that you have got what it needs. Even if you fall short, your learning and experience will prepare you to do better next time!

3. Doubt–The Biggest Killer Of Success

With little or absolutely no support from family and having a lack of confidence can compel you to doubt your dreams. Once self-doubt enters your life, then there is no way one can get out of this vicious cycle. As one qualm raises several questions about our capabilities, we surrender ourselves to these apprehensions without even trying to move towards the goal.

4. Ignorance Of Strength And Capabilities

Remember it is your own life. You are in-charge of this. Nobody else has the right to judge you on your capabilities. It is up to every individual to identify their strengths, weaknesses, and potential. We often fail to recognize our potency and start following somebody else's dream.

5. Finding Faults With Others

Yes, the blame game is possibly a crucial factor that hinders our success path. In the process, we tend to blame somebody else for our own shortcomings or mistakes. Unable to take responsibility for our blunders, we keep repeating our errors without learning from the past.

At this time, it is better to have someone who has an outside perspective, can see clearly and help you realise the same. With the right guidance, one starts accepting reality, identifies one's weakness, and acts accordingly in a disciplined manner.

6. More Wishes, Less Hard Work And Commitment

‘I wish I were a well-known athlete with a huge fan following, but I'm sorry I cannot put in too much physical labour.’

This contradictory situation will always disrupt your success dream. Wishes without hard work, commitments, and proper planning will never let you achieve your goals, even if you have all the support and resources available. As they say, A Goal without a Plan is just a Wish.

7. Lack Of Appreciation

In our daily stressful life, we forget to be thankful for whatever strength and qualities we have and work towards the betterment of the same. We keep comparing ourselves with others and focus on what we do not have. In this situation, one must remember that every individual is different; therefore, instead of falling prey to this constant feeling of incompleteness focusing on aspects that make us stronger will certainly result in success. The appreciation will also force you to take care of yourself and constantly improve your skills.

Though the above said reasons are the main culprits which often stop us from chasing our dreams, there are other factors too contributing to the sabotage of our success which cannot be ignored. For example, stress, anger and anxiety caused due to the constant urge to win the rat race, which not only affects the performance but also depletes the energy levels.

This depleted energy level needs to be replenished every day using energy healing techniques like meditation or sound therapy.

Whether it is physical or mental health, in today's competitive world both are equally important to achieve success because a healthy mind resides in a healthy body. And a healthy mind supports a healthy body.

Our diet, our surroundings, events, people – everything adds to our emotions. Once we start understanding each emotion separately and delinking it from the other, we can start removing these blockages and limitations from our minds.

If you want to understand how and where to start, let’s have a conversation.

Till I see you with my next thoughts – Enjoy Life, Stay Healthy and Stress-Free!

So, what is the remedy for the above issues?

The remedy is, “Be in the Moment” – but this term has been abused in today’s times and the meaning diluted.

Someone says when you are in the flow, you are in the moment.

Some say when you are without thoughts, then you are in the moment.

Many mouths, many stories.

So, how to understand “Being in the Moment”?

Let’s try not to get sucked into this intellectual debate but try and look and its root cause instead.

So, when you are stressed about the future, what happens in your mind?

Are you stuck in the thoughts like “What if something goes wrong?” or “What if things do not go as per plan?” or “What if someone hurts you?” or “What if you are left with no friends?” or “What if you become sick or poor etc. etc.?”

So many “What ifs!!”

Where are they coming from? They are coming from your past sad, bad experiences.

Where are these experiences residing? They are residing in your memory. Isn’t it?

Let’s try to find the root cause of another stress creator.

“You are not able to trust people around you.” What is happening here in your mind?

Are you stuck in thoughts of “What if someone hurts me?” or “What if someone leaves me?” or “What if someone betrays me?” or “What if someone is not able to complete the task as I want them to?”

Again, countless “What ifs?”

Where are they coming from? They are coming from your past sad, bad experiences.

Where are these experiences residing? Again, they are residing in your memory. Isn’t it?

If you take all the above issues and try to look into the root causes of these, you will come to understand that the root cause is your bad and sad memory.

If your memory is such a bad thing, then why nature has given you this memory? Memory is a useful gift. It has been given to you for your survival. Think, how hard it was for you to remember alphabets in your childhood. But now you not only remember them, but you also use them effortlessly in your writing, to express your feelings and thoughts. You have seen how difficult it is for a toddler to learn walking. It takes years to learn walking without falling. Think for a second, if you forget how to walk? What will happen? You will have to learn everyday, how to walk again. So, memory is useful in doing your daily routine effortlessly. Also, memory helps you to remember what is good for you and what is harmful to you. If something is poisonous for you, you will not take it. You remember how to deal with animals, which are dangerous and how to tame them or stay away from them.

So, memory is not bad, as it helps us in our daily work and keeps us safe.

Then why this memory, which is providing you safety, considered the root cause of your stress? How correct this root cause is?

Memory is not bad. It does its work without fail… But, when your intellect gets clouded by these fear creating memories, then at that moment intellect cannot take an unbiased decision. It cannot see things as they truly are.

I came across a true story about a lady who used to work in an office. One day an elderly gentleman man joined the office. Looking at this new person, an uneasy and nasty feeling used to start generating in this young lady. This elderly man was a thorough gentleman and never offended this young lady in any shape or form. But still, when this man used to walk past this lady, she used to get irritated, angry. She used to feel like throwing whatever she would find close by at him. At first, she kept her feelings to herself but slowly her emotional condition started to get out of control. People around her started noticing her changed behaviour when this man was around her. Her friends discussed the issue with her and suggested she go to a psychologist. She took the advice. After a few sessions,’ the psychologist found out that as a child this lady was abused by her father. Her father used to use the same aftershave which this elderly colleague was wearing. She used to get reminded of her abuse by this smell and this triggered anger. Her subconscious mind wanted to save her by keeping this man away through this irrational violent behaviour.

She was counselled by the psychologist and slowly over time, she had overcome her issues that were arising from her memory. She never faced the same problem again.

Now, this was an extreme case where the lady’s intellect was hijacked by memory but we all do something similar at various levels – when we are thinking about something that is not in our control. It becomes worse when we do not take any action and keep thinking “What if?”

My advice is if you have done your work or are still working on the solution, then stop thinking about “What if?”. Anticipating results according to your past experiences will cloud your intellect and take away the peace of your mind. In return, you will only get Stress and Anxiety.

So, are we saying we should not use our memory when making decisions? No, you need to use your memory to take a decision by evaluating the facts properly. What I am asking you to do is to not take decisions only by your memories. Evaluate the situations according to the changed facts and circumstances.

Also, once a decision is taken do not think about that subject anymore. Otherwise, you will be hijacked by your memory again.

You use your memory when needed and cut it off when not needed. With practice, you will start living in the moment. When your intellect is swimming in the memory ocean all the time, then its anticipation about the future creates anxiety. Its past experiences haunt you and cloud the judgement.

So, to recap, what do you need to do?

1. Use your memory ONLY when needed

2. When not in memory, be aware of your breath and the events around you at the same time

3. By performing step 2 the beauty of ‘the moment’ will be revealed to you

Till I see you next – Stay In the Moment, Stay Healthy and Stress-Free!
